50/50 Balanced Approach with Public Access OR Continued Industrial Use and Salt Making with No Public Access?
The 2.2 square mile privately owned Redwood City Saltworks site covers 1,433 acres of land and portions of this site have been used for industrial operations for over 100 years. For two years, the DMB Redwood City Saltworks team has requested community feedback to help guide the future plans for this site. The options for the property have evolved into two basic choices.
50/50 Balanced Approach with Public AccessUnder this choice, more than 700 acres of land would be dedicated to publicly accessible open space, restored habitat and active recreation with biking and hiking trails along the bayside areas, at no cost to taxpayers.
Continued Industrial Use and Salt Making with No Public Access
The other choice is to continue industrial uses at the site and keep it off limits to the public.
